Home | Group Visits
The Zoo and soft play areas have proved an extremely popular choice for all kinds of group visits from toddler groups, playgroups, Sunday schools, nursery, primary and secondary schools, to rainbow, brownie, guide, beavers, cubs and scouts!

To qualify for our group rates, there must be a minimum of 10 adults and/or 10 children. Visits can be made to the Zoo and Soft Play combined or just the Zoo or the indoor/outdoor play areas

With group rates, for every 6th child 1 adult/teacher is admitted free of charge.

With over a 100 different species of animals, birds and reptiles to see we can cover several topics that may be related to the Curriculum for Excellence including :

Minibeasts, Life Cycles, Camouflage, Rainforests, Conservation, Living Things, Environment, Nocturnal Animals, Owls and Habitats - or we will do our best to cover any other requested subject.

Included in the group rate is a 30 minute handling session in the Education Room. A Zoo Keeper will chat about 3/4 different species and everyone will get a chance to touch or hold these creatures - only if they wish!

snake

These sessions are fun and tailored to suit different ages.

These sessions can include : a Royal Python, bearded dragon, tortoise, giant millipede, giant African land snail, cockroach, hedgehog and spider!

These sessions are best suited for a maximum of 20 people, so larger groups can be split down with each group getting a handling session, a look round the Zoo and even some time in the play areas and this ensures that the children and adults get the most from their visit.

Work sheet activities can be provided to use either during the visit or as a follow up exercise when back in the classroom.

Guided Zoo tours

These are better suited to primary/high school groups, but please ask for further details when booking, if this is something you would like included in your visit. Maximum group size per guide is 30 individuals.

Picnic Areas

There is a large grassy area with picnic tables within the Zoo and during wet weather, our party room in the play area can be used if available.

Themed Gift Shop

Offers a variety of items for as little as 25p if groups would like to purchase any souvenirs.

Parking

There is plenty of parking for minibuses and coaches

Special Needs groups

We would be delighted to welcome your group to the Zoo, carers with official ID will be admitted free of charge. As the zoo is on one level, with virtually no hills and is easily accessible to wheelchairs, such groups have found it great to get up close to the animals, enjoy the handling sessions and or the play areas.
