The Zoo is now open as normal, however because of the loss of the Tropical House and the various activities which took part in this building we have decided to reduce our entry fee by £2.00 per person. (Please see individual/family prices section for full details.)
If you had planned a visit please still come along as there is still plenty to see and do and we are sure you will find that it is still great value for money.
Leaping Lemurs Soft Play area is also open as normal - see you soon hopefully!
Due to the number of people calling and wishing to donate to help the Zoo as a result of the fire, we have set up a dedicated fund and anyone wishing to donate please simply click on this donation link and select the Five Sisters Zoo Fire Fund from the dropdown menu.
Current total of the Five Sisters Fire Fund is just over £55,500
Great news! The meerkats and the female otter are now back out in their enclosures and are making great progress.
The story :
Our worst nightmare : a devastating fire on Sunday 14th April completely destroyed the reptile/tropical house and immediate buildings around it.
We can sadly confirm the unbelievable loss of 48 different species including reptiles, invertebrates and small mammals. Goldie, our 14ft albino burmese python had recently been moved out of this area so has survived. The fire spread to the otter pond, killing our male otter, but the female is alive and being cared for by staff. 2 of our meerkats survived, despite their house being totally destroyed.
Amazingly the crocodiles, housed next to the reptile house also survived. They were discovered submerged in their pond underneath rubble and ash depsite their house also been burnt to the ground.

Shirley and Brian Curran, the staff and volunteers at the Zoo wish to thank everyone for their messages of support, offers of help and generous donations received to date.
We will be updating the blog/facebook and twitter sites on a daily basis to keep everyone informed as to what is happening.
A memorial garden has now been completed within the Zoo and this has been dedicated to all our beloved animals that have been lost, but will never be forgotten.
THANK YOU EVERYONE - if you haven't received a reply to a message, we are trying to answer these as quickly as possible.
