Michaela At Five Sisters Zoo Park
New Picnic Area & Children's Rides
Our new picnic area was opened in the spring this year and includes new kiddie's rides, ice cream parlour and a burger bar.
It's a great place for groups or families to have a bite to eat or an ice cream, then relax and enjoy the Scottish summer sun.
New Enclosures
New enclosures have been errected for our racoons, palm civits and scottish wild cats. We have also constructed new paddocks for our pigmy goats and our minature donkeys. All of the animals have now settled in and are enjoying their new homes.
New Meerkat Exhibit
The new meerkat enclosure was constructed during the spring of 2010. The enclosure will be named "Alex's Meercat House" as a tribute to Alex Oag, our volunteer and friend who passed away on 29th March this year. The meercats have settled into their new home and we think there are some babies on the way. It will be a few more weeks yet before they will venture out from the nest (Fingers crossed!!)
Babies At Five Sisters Zoo 2010
Our black and white ruffed lemur called "Sookie" that featured on TV Show Michaela's Zoo Babies gave birth to three lovely triplets on 28th April 2010. Mum, dad, big sister and the three baby lemurs are all doing well.
Sparkle our Shetland pony gave birth to a foal on 1st June 2010. Corrie is the first Shetland pony to be born at our zoo and has settled in. He is one of our star attractions, and is enjoying the attention from our visitors.
Our snowy owl successfully produced three hatchlings between 19th and 29th June 2010. All three chicks are doing very well.
And finally, we are pleased to announce the birth of our new wallaby. He/She can be seen peeping out from mum's pouch if you look closely.
New Additions To The Zoo Collection
We would like to welcome Tin Tin and Tuxedo, our new minature donkeys, and a pair of peacocks to Five Sisters Zoo.
Stumpy Reaches 24!
The Zoo celebrates Stumpy reaching the old age of 24. Stumpy is possibly the oldest Lemur in Europe or the
world as most Lemurs only live
to about 20.
The Lemurs came from Edinburgh
Zoo fairly wild but we have
worked with them to make them
very friendly. The Lemurs can be seen at the zoo 7 days a week.
